Phil Mickelson sought help from a men’s addiction and trauma treatment program earlier this year, as confirmed by a representative for the golfer to the California Post on Monday. The specific dates of his enrollment and duration of stay are not disclosed, but the representative stated that he is now out of the program.
According to the representative, Mickelson was seeking treatment for family trauma and addiction. He has been absent from professional golf for most of 2026 due to a family matter. Additionally, he has faced allegations of inappropriate conduct.
Mickelson, 56, was reportedly barred from a prominent golf club in Rancho Santa Fe, California, following accusations from a female employee who alleged that he made “nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact” with her.
Subsequently, Ashley Perez, the ex-wife of golfer Pat Perez, claimed that Mickelson attempted to seduce her in 2015 by using a naked photo of himself while Pat Perez was in a nearby bathroom.
A spokeswoman for Mickelson stated that some allegations against him are false, while others pertain to “mistakes he has already acknowledged, publicly or privately.” She emphasized that Mickelson’s priority is to become the husband, father, and man his family deserves, focusing on a private family health matter.
The spokeswoman also noted that Mickelson’s wife, Amy, was supporting him and their family during this time. However, she was seen in July without her wedding ring and has not been photographed in public since.
TMZ was the first to report on Mickelson’s treatment program.
