The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, which includes a match between India and Pakistan. This highly anticipated fixture is set to take place on October 10, 2027, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The match will be part of the group stage, which also features Australia as the defending champions.
The tournament will be hosted across three countries: South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, with a total of 12 venues accommodating matches among 12 participating nations. The final is scheduled for November 21, 2027, also in Johannesburg.
In addition to the India-Pakistan match, both teams could potentially meet again in the Super Seven stage or in the final if they qualify. The group stage will commence on October 7, 2027, with Australia facing India in a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final.
The teams are divided into two groups: Group A includes Australia, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and a qualifier; Group B consists of New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh, and another qualifier. The qualifiers will be determined through a 10-team tournament early next year.
Zimbabwe, as one of the co-hosts, will begin its campaign on October 11, 2027, against Afghanistan in Bulawayo. ICC chairman Jay Shah stated that the tournament will provide an unforgettable experience, showcasing the passion for cricket in the host countries.
Following the group stage, the top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 7 stage, with the best fourth-placed team also qualifying. The top four teams after this phase will proceed to the semifinals, with the matchups determined by their standings.
