Trump stated on Truth Social that the new date for the dinner is July 24, emphasizing the importance of not allowing such events to disrupt normalcy. He also mentioned that the Waldorf Astoria is a venue he built. The annual dinner, which has been traditionally held at the Washington Hilton, will feature enhanced safety measures and new access procedures, according to Weijia Jiang, President of the White House Correspondents’ Association. Jiang noted that the gathering will be more intimate. The incident at the previous dinner involved an armed suspect, Cole Allen, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including attempting to assassinate the president.
