Michigan State Police Clarify Larry Nassar's Status on Sex Offender Registry

<p>The Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney's Office had stated that a court ruling forced the removal of Larry Nassar's name from the sex offender registry; however, Michigan State Police clarified that he was not listed because he is imprisoned out of state.</p><p>Michigan has removed over 20,000 entries from its sex offender registry, but Larry Nassar, the former Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics doctor, is not among them. State police indicated that Nassar was not in the registry as claimed by the local prosecutor's office because he is serving a federal prison sentence outside of Michigan.</p><p>On September 9, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the state's Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA) cannot be applied retroactively to offenses committed before the law's relevant date.
