The Saudi-led coalition spokesman stated that claims made by the Houthi armed group regarding attacks on Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, are 'misleading.' This statement was made following the Houthis' assertion that they had conducted ballistic missile and drone attacks on an Aramco oil facility near Riyadh, which they claimed resulted in large fires. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki indicated that the Houthis are attempting to divert attention from their own losses.
The Yemeni army, supported by Saudi Arabia, reported that 700 Houthis were killed in 24 hours due to military operations. Colonel Majed Abdullah al-Nazili, a spokesman for the Yemeni government forces, mentioned that they executed 257 precision targeting operations against Houthi positions on the same day.
Al-Maliki also criticized the Houthis for their 'ties to external agendas,' which he claimed have led to chaos in Yemen, and suggested that their current situation in Taiz is prompting them to seek 'illusory victories.'
On Sunday, the Saudi-led coalition announced it had conducted 97 precise targeting operations against Houthi reinforcements using various military assets, including warplanes and drones. The conflict between the Houthis and Yemeni government forces has escalated since the collapse of a truce in July 2022, displacing many civilians. The Houthis had previously captured the port city of Mocha and strategic islands in the Bab al-Mandeb strait in mid-September, a crucial route for global oil shipments. Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, in 2014, prompting the Yemeni government to relocate to Aden.
