He then reportedly fired another round at a black BMW after catching up to it.</p><p>Following the shootings, Tanaka rear-ended a gray Nissan Altima carrying two people. When the occupants of the Nissan stopped to check on him, he allegedly exited his vehicle with a handgun and fired at least one round into their windshield.</p><p>Deputies from the Warren County Sheriff's Office, officers from the West Des Moines Police Department, and Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to the scene near mile marker 56, where they found the injured woman and several vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. The woman was transported to a hospital with injuries that were reported as not life-threatening.</p><p>Tanaka was later located along the interstate after his vehicle became disabled due to the collision. He was found standing on the shoulder of the highway with a handgun when officers arrived and was taken into custody without further incident.</p><p>The interstate was closed for several hours as authorities processed the scene. Tanaka has been booked into the Warren County Jail.</p><p>The Warren County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are conducting an investigation into the shootings.</p>
