Florida man arrested for shooting girlfriend and running her over

A Florida man is facing charges after deputies reported he shot his girlfriend and then ran her over with his vehicle while his child was in the car. The incident occurred following an argument outside a bar in Safe Harbor, Florida. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Christopher “Dodge” Smith, 40, and the victim as Jessica Antolini, 30. According to a criminal complaint, Smith arrived at the bar on Tuesday just before 9 p.m. and appeared to be searching for Antolini, with witnesses describing him as looking 'possessed.' The complaint states that after locating his girlfriend, they argued outside the bar, during which he allegedly shot her in the face. Following the shooting, deputies reported that Smith ran over Antolini with his SUV and fled the scene with his 5-year-old child in the vehicle. Multiple 911 calls from witnesses led deputies to Smith’s SUV, which they attempted to pull over. Smith did not comply, resulting in deputies immobilizing his vehicle using a PIT maneuver. He was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder and child abuse. Antolini remains in critical condition in the hospital, while the child was unharmed and reunited with family. Smith is currently in a Pinellas County jail with no bond due to the attempted murder charge.
