Baby Rescued from Vehicle in Floodwaters in Beeville, Texas

Body camera footage captured the rescue of a baby trapped inside a vehicle stranded in floodwaters on Saturday in Beeville, Texas, approximately 100 miles southeast of San Antonio. Heavy storms had caused rapid rainfall, leading to dangerous road conditions and overwhelming a low-water crossing. According to the Beeville Police Department, the sudden downpour caught a vehicle entering the crossing, which was subsequently pushed by the rushing water. A fire chief attempted to flag down the driver, but the driver did not see the crew in time. As water levels rose, an officer reported that the car was being pushed toward a creek. The driver alerted officers that a baby was inside the vehicle. An officer then ran through the floodwaters, opened the door, and pulled the infant from the carriage. After the rescue, another responder used a jacket to shield the child from the rain. Police confirmed that both the baby and the driver were safely rescued.
