Trump has been vocal in his criticism of Talarico's views and has recently endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who defeated incumbent Senator John Cornyn in a recent runoff election. Platner is currently facing scrutiny over past messages sent to women but remains in the race for the statewide primary on June 9.
