James Handy, an actor known for roles in films such as 'Jumanji' and 'Top Gun: Maverick,' was allegedly killed by his girlfriend's son, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers responded to a residence on Erwin Street on Wednesday morning after a 911 caller reported, 'I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.' Upon arrival, officers found Handy, 81, unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, identified as Michael Gledhill, 44, of Tarzana, reportedly flagged down officers as they arrived and admitted to being the person they were looking for. Gledhill lived at the residence with his mother, who was Handy's girlfriend. He was arrested and booked into the Van Nuys Jail on a murder charge, with bail set at $2 million. Handy had nearly 150 acting credits over a career spanning approximately five decades, including guest appearances on shows like 'The West Wing' and 'NCIS: Los Angeles.'
