Massachusetts Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Beach Dispute

<p>A 70-year-old man from Massachusetts, Steven Dana, has been charged with attempted murder following an altercation at Sandy Beach in Hopkinton. Authorities report that the incident occurred during a dispute over water access, where Dana allegedly assaulted 21-year-old Matt Duffy.</p><p>According to police, Dana forced Duffy underwater during the confrontation, which led to the attempted murder charge. The dispute reportedly arose as Duffy and his friends were using Lake Maspenock, which irritated Dana, who lives nearby.</p><p>Video footage from the incident shows the confrontation escalating, with Dana and Duffy exchanging words before physical violence ensued. Duffy stated that Dana tackled him into the water and held him underwater until his friends intervened. Duffy, who was using crutches due to injuries from a motorcycle accident, described the struggle and expressed concern for his safety during the incident.</p><p>In addition to attempted murder, Dana faces charges of strangulation/suffocation and assault and battery on a disabled person. He was released on $7,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 13.</p>
