Ex-Marine Defends Against Armed Teen Robbery Attempt in Maryland

An ex-Marine defended himself against four armed teenage robbery suspects in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on Tuesday at approximately 5 p.m. The incident occurred while Jheyco Borda was working on his truck. According to reports, one of the suspects pointed a handgun at Borda and demanded his keys, phone, and other valuables. Borda managed to grab the suspect's arm and throw him to the ground. Although the other suspects initially fled, one returned to confront Borda and was tackled by Borda's brother, who assisted in the situation. During the struggle, the firearm discharged and struck Borda's truck, but no injuries were reported. Prince George's County police later apprehended all four suspects. Borda had received training in hand-to-hand combat through the Marine Corps. Reports indicate that youth crime in the D.C. area has been increasing, with a significant rise in homicides and non-fatal shootings involving individuals aged 15 to 20 from 2021 to June 2024.
