New York woman arrested for alleged hate crime on subway

A 23-year-old woman from the Bronx, identified as Diana Smith, was arrested on hate crime charges following an incident on a New York City subway. The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that Smith allegedly attacked another woman, who is also 23 years old, by punching, kicking, and choking her. The incident, which was recorded on video, included Smith making antisemitic remarks, stating, "Jews are eating kids!" and suggesting that she could "smell the kids" on the victim. After the physical assault, which included throwing the victim to the ground and pulling her hair, Smith was charged with hate crime assault, hate crime criminal obstructing breathing, and hate crime aggravated harassment. The victim was taken to a hospital and reported to be in stable condition with minor injuries.
