Spencer Pratt's Lead Over Nithya Raman Narrowed to 1% in LA Mayoral Race

Spencer Pratt's independent campaign for the Los Angeles mayoral runoff is uncertain as the election results continue to be counted nearly a week after Election Day. As of the latest tally, Pratt leads Democrat City Councilmember Nithya Raman by just 1%, with a few thousand ballots remaining to be counted. Current results show incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in first place with 235,180 votes (34.8%), Pratt in second with 184,596 votes (27.3%), and Raman in third with 177,102 votes (26.2%). The counting of ballots postmarked by Election Day is ongoing, and results must be certified by July 10. The Republican National Committee has criticized the slow counting process, which has seen Raman gain votes in recent updates, narrowing Pratt's lead significantly. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy attributed the delays to changes made by California Governor Gavin Newsom regarding election laws. The ongoing ballot count has drawn attention as it may affect the final outcome of the race for the second spot in the runoff alongside Bass.
