Poll Shows Low Percentage of Americans Believe the U.S. is the Best Nation

<p>A survey conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that only 25% of U.S. adults believe that the country stands above every other nation. Meanwhile, 44% view the U.S. as one of the greatest nations among others, and 30% believe there are nations better than the U.S.</p><p>Regarding the American dream, only 34% of respondents felt that hard work leads to success, while 51% believe it is now a relic of the past. Additionally, 15% felt the concept was never true.</p><p>The poll revealed significant differences in views based on political affiliation, with 57% of Republicans believing the American dream remains intact, compared to just 17% of Democrats.</p><p>The survey also indicated that President Donald Trump's approval rating is at 33%, with 67% disapproving of his performance. Specifically, 70% disapproved of his handling of the economy.</p><p>The survey was conducted from April 16-20, 2026, with 2,596 adults participating from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The overall margin of sampling error is +/-2.6 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.</p>
