Poll Shows Low Percentage of Americans Believe the U.S. is the Best Nation

<p>A survey conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that only 25% of U.S. adults believe that the country stands above every other nation. In contrast, 44% consider the U.S. to be one of the greatest nations among others, while 30% believe there are nations better than the U.S.</p><p>Regarding the American dream, only 34% of respondents felt that hard work leads to success, whereas 51% believe it is a concept that is no longer valid, and 15% think it was never true.</p><p>The survey indicated a significant divide in perceptions of the American dream based on political affiliation: 57% of Republicans believe the dream remains intact, while only 17% of Democrats share that view.</p><p>The poll also reported President Donald Trump's approval rating at 33%, with 67% disapproving of his performance. Specifically, 70% disapproved of his handling of the economy.</p><p>The survey was conducted from April 16-20, 2026, with 2,596 adults participating, representing all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The margin of sampling error is +/-2.6 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.</p>
