Poll Shows Low Approval for Trump's Economic Management

A recent YouGov/Economist poll conducted from June 5-8 indicates that only 29 percent of Americans approve of Donald Trump's handling of the economy, while 63 percent disapprove, resulting in a net approval rating of -34 points. This marks a significant decline from his first term, where he had a positive net rating of 8 points. The poll also reveals that 57 percent of respondents believe the economy is worsening, with only 14 percent stating it is improving. Among stock market investors, 20 percent feel the economy is improving, compared to 11 percent of those without investments. Political affiliation influences perceptions, with 86 percent of Democrats, 59 percent of independents, and 25 percent of Republicans believing the economy is worsening. Trump's approval rating on economic issues has declined in various polls, with 70 percent disapproving of his handling of the cost of living. Additionally, energy prices have risen, contributing to inflation, which reached 3.8 percent in April. Trump's overall net approval rating stands at -25 points, slightly up from a recent low of -26, raising concerns among Republican strategists ahead of the midterms.
