Apple and Google Update Devices to Support Thread 1.4

Apple and Google have announced updates to their smart home streaming devices to support Thread 1.4. This update is available on compatible Apple TVs through the tvOS 27 developer beta and on the Google TV Streamer via a software update. The update allows these devices, which function as Thread Border Routers, to implement Thread credential sharing, facilitating easier connections to existing Thread networks. Thread is a connectivity protocol that is part of the interoperability standard known as Matter.
