Former Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized President Donald Trump, stating, "He’s the real traitor," in relation to his handling of the Epstein files. During an interview with CNN's Kaitlan Collins, Greene expressed her belief that those who refuse to release the Epstein files are betraying the American people.
The disagreement between Trump and Greene arose after she advocated for the release of the Epstein files, leading to public exchanges where Trump referred to her as "wacky" and a "Traitor to our Country."
Following the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the Department of Justice released a 3.5-million-page document containing various investigative records, which included mentions of Trump, who had a long-standing relationship with Epstein. Greene recounted a conversation with Trump where he expressed concerns about the potential harm to his friends if the files were released.
Greene also addressed speculation about her political alignment, stating that she remains committed to her views and is not a Democrat, despite the fallout with Trump. She emphasized her focus on transparency regarding the Epstein files and her disillusionment with party politics.
