Shooting incident in Midland, Texas results in one death and ten injuries

A shooting incident in Midland, Texas, resulted in one death and ten injuries on Friday morning. The incident began around 8 a.m. near a building located in the 4600 block of West Wall Street. Police responded to reports of an active shooter, and the suspect was later confirmed deceased following an armed standoff with law enforcement. Midland Police Chief Greg Snow stated that officers heard gunfire and quickly secured the area, deploying armored units and collaborating with partner agencies. A nearby hospital, Midland Memorial Hospital, was placed on lockdown during the event. As of 10:10 a.m., the hospital lifted the lockdown for its main campus, although the emergency department remained locked down. The hospital reported receiving nine victims, with four in the operating room and five in stable condition. A reunification center for victims' families was established at the hospital. Road closures in the area are expected to continue as the investigation is ongoing.
