Michael Gledhill, 44, has been charged with murder, with allegations that he used a knife in the attack on Handy, who was found unconscious outside a home in Los Angeles on June 5. Handy was 81 years old at the time of his death. Gledhill did not attend his arraignment, where a judge ordered him to undergo mental health evaluations. He remains in custody with bail set at $2 million and faces a potential sentence of 26 years in prison if convicted. Gledhill is the son of Handy's girlfriend, Wendy Gledhill, and had previously been mentioned by Handy as having mental health issues. Gledhill reportedly confessed to the crime and flagged down police officers upon their arrival.
