ICE Arrests Alleged Foreign Terrorist Leader Following Car Chase in North Carolina

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Felipe Linares de Oliveira Dell Aquilla, a Brazilian national, on June 5 in Mooresville, North Carolina. Authorities allege he attempted to flee a traffic stop while preparing to escape to Mexico. Dell Aquilla, known as "Don," is accused of being a commander in two organizations designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations by the U.S. government. He is wanted in Brazil for criminal association and extortion. During the pursuit, Dell Aquilla crashed his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended. A search of his vehicle revealed multiple electronic devices, cash, and a firearm. Dell Aquilla is facing charges including fleeing to elude arrest and potential additional charges of kidnapping and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien. He entered the United States illegally at an unspecified time and location.
