Donald Trump's UFC birthday event, named "UFC Freedom 250," took place on Sunday, coinciding with his 80th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the United States. The event was held on the South Lawn of the White House, with over 4,000 attendees, including Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and UFC CEO Dana White. Trump described the event as a success on Truth Social, praising the fighters and the weather.
However, a poll released by Navigator Research indicates that public opinion is less favorable, with 56% of registered voters opposing the event and only 28% supporting it, resulting in a net approval rating of -28. The approval rating for this event was lower than some of Trump's other recent initiatives, which have also faced criticism.
Trump has been involved in various large-scale projects since the beginning of his second term, including plans for a 250-foot-tall "Arc de Trump" and a $300 million ballroom to replace the White House East Wing. A 22-foot golden statue of Trump was also unveiled at his golf course in Miami, which received a net approval rating of -44 in the same poll.
The Navigator Research survey found that many voters, including some from Trump's own base, expressed concern over these projects, indicating a preference for the administration to focus on economic issues such as inflation and the cost of living. The poll revealed that 58% of voters believe these should be the administration's main focus, while only 20% feel that is where attention is currently directed.
