Bungee Jumper Dies After Safety Cord Not Attached

A 21-year-old woman, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, died after falling from a 130-foot bridge in Limeira, Brazil, on Saturday. Workers at the bungee jumping site failed to attach a safety cord before the jump. A bystander reportedly shouted a warning as she fell. Authorities confirmed that the safety equipment was not secured, and Brazilian police arrested three men on charges of homicide with eventual intent. Three additional individuals were detained for questioning. The incident involved two companies, Ih Voei and Entre Cordas, which were operating at the site. A police official stated that the team was unregulated and lacked authorization for the event. Rodrigues de Freitas' fiancé witnessed the fall and was taken to the emergency room afterward. Prior to the jump, she had posted on social media expressing her apprehension about the jump.
