FBI Disrupts Planned Attacks Targeting UFC Event at White House

WASHINGTON (AP) — Law enforcement officials disrupted planned attacks targeting the UFC cage-fighting show held at the White House for President Donald Trump's birthday. Multiple individuals are in custody, according to FBI Director Kash Patel. The specific nature of the threat has not been disclosed, and further details are expected to be released once charges are unsealed later today. Five arrests were made in states including Ohio, Missouri, and California, as reported by a law enforcement official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The FBI became aware of the potential threat on June 10, four days prior to the event. Patel stated that the rapid actions of the FBI, along with partners from the Department of Justice, led to the arrests and prevented the alleged attacks. Secret Service Director Sean Curran noted that their team worked diligently to identify those involved. Trump, who celebrated his 80th birthday at the UFC event, mentioned he had not been briefed on the thwarted plot while attending the Group of Seven summit in Évian-les-Bains, France.
