Cher Oteri, a former cast member of *Saturday Night Live*, shared her experience with breast cancer during an episode of Chelsea Handler’s podcast, *Dear Chelsea*. Oteri revealed that Jill Biden, the former First Lady, provided significant support during her diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), an early-stage form of breast cancer. Oteri, 63, described Biden as a source of comfort, stating, "And through everything, she’s like checking on me and just a beautiful human being."
Oteri explained that she first met Biden through the Milken Institute’s work on women’s health issues and that their bond grew stronger after she disclosed her upcoming lumpectomy surgery. Biden expressed her willingness to support Oteri throughout her treatment, saying, "I’m going through this with you."
Oteri underwent a second surgery after doctors found that not all affected tissue had been removed during the first procedure. She emphasized the importance of getting mammograms and seeking second opinions for women's health. DCIS is generally considered highly treatable, though it often requires surgery and possibly additional treatments.
