JD Vance Appoints Nick Luna as Chief of Staff

Vice President JD Vance has appointed Nick Luna as his new chief of staff. Luna previously served as the director of Oval Office operations during the Trump administration and remained loyal to President Donald Trump following the January 6 insurrection attempt. This hiring follows the announcement that Jacob Reses, Vance's current chief of staff, will leave the position by the end of the summer due to personal reasons. Luna is expected to officially take on the role in August. He has a close working relationship with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and previously worked with Vance during the vice presidential search process. The appointment comes amid reports that Vance has been excluded from high-level discussions within the administration. Additionally, Vance is viewed as a potential frontrunner for the MAGA movement in the 2028 presidential election, with Luna's political skills considered beneficial for a possible presidential run. Vance has publicly stated that he is not currently focused on the 2028 election.
