Miles Russell, 17, Prepares for U.S. Open Debut

Miles Russell, at 17 years old, is the youngest player in the 2026 U.S. Open field. As a Florida State commit, he has gained attention leading up to the tournament at Shinnecock Hills. During a press conference, Russell reflected on his early memories of golf, stating, "Maybe bits and pieces, but that's probably more from seeing highlights from it. I don't really remember watching any U.S. Opens when I was that little." He mentioned that his first significant memory was watching Jordan Spieth at the 2015 Masters and Tiger Woods winning the 2019 Masters. Russell qualified for the U.S. Open after a playoff in the final stage of qualifying, with Charlie Woods, Tiger Woods' son, serving as his caddie. In 2024, he made history as the youngest player to make the cut in a Korn Ferry Tour event, finishing T-20.
