Trump announces largely negotiated agreement with Iran as war approaches end

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that an agreement has been "largely negotiated" with Iran and several allied nations, indicating a potential end to the ongoing 84-day conflict. In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned a "very good call" with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain, suggesting the deal is close to finalization. He stated, "An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed." Trump also had a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, which he described as going well. He noted that final details of the agreement are currently under discussion and will be announced soon. A key provision of the deal reportedly involves the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. This announcement follows significant diplomatic efforts and military actions related to the conflict with Iran. Earlier, Trump expressed uncertainty about whether he would sign a deal or resume military operations. However, a regional diplomat indicated that discussions with Arab leaders were positive and supportive of the progress made. The U.S. Central Command has also reported redirecting 100 commercial vessels during a maritime blockade of Iranian ports. Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously indicated that any resolution would require Iran to keep the Strait of Hormuz open without tolls and to surrender its enriched uranium.
