Florida man arrested for allegedly kidnapping teenage girl and hiding her in dryer

A Florida man, Christopher Michael Veit, 53, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor after allegedly hiding a teenage girl inside a clothes dryer at his home in Key Largo. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported that authorities responded to a call made by the victim at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, where she stated she was being held hostage. Upon arrival, deputies found the girl concealed inside the dryer. Investigators indicated that Veit restrained the girl and took her cellphone when she expressed a desire to leave. The victim was discovered without life-threatening injuries and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being released to a family member. The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified, and detectives collected evidence at the scene, including counterfeit currency. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed.
