The newly redrawn district is expected to lean Republican, with the Cook Political Report rating it as noncompetitive.</p><p>Republicans redrew the district last year, which previously favored Democrats, effectively removing Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, who had represented the area for over two decades.</p><p>Mealer previously ran for Harris County Judge in 2022 but lost to Judge Lina Hidalgo, also receiving Trump's endorsement during that campaign.</p>
