Interior Secretary Claims Threatening Messages Found at Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated that multiple threatening messages directed at President Trump were left at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which have not been reported. During an interview with Fox News, Burgum noted that there have been seven arrests related to vandalism at the site and 18 police reports filed, although court records indicate only one individual has been charged. Burgum emphasized the legal significance of vandalism at the Reflecting Pool, equating it to damaging the Lincoln statue. Trump previously suggested that the pool's damage was caused by deliberate vandalism, despite claiming that the new lining was very durable. Neither the Department of Interior nor the White House has provided evidence supporting the claims of vandalism. Burgum did not elaborate on the nature of the threatening messages. Recent incidents of vandalism at the National Mall included the defacement of the lawn with the numbers '86 47', which has been linked to Trump’s presidency. The White House has not responded to requests for comment.
