The wife and children of Argentine soccer player Lucas Trejo have been found dead following the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. Trejo’s wife, Yanina Maranella, and their children, Aarón and Ainhoa, are among the victims as the death toll from the earthquakes has reached at least 1,430, with many others reported missing. Family friend Edson Tortolero confirmed the news on Instagram, stating, "We inform all the people of Venezuela and Argentina that the bodies of Lucas Trejo’s family members have been found lifeless."
Trejo’s club, Club Sport Marítimo de La Guaira, reported that a three-day search for his family concluded with the discovery of their bodies. The club expressed condolences and requested respect for Trejo and his family during this difficult time.
The earthquakes, which struck Caracas and surrounding areas, registered magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, occurring just 40 seconds apart. The quakes caused significant destruction, leveling buildings and displacing many residents. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with teams working to locate survivors.
Despite the devastation, there have been reports of miraculous rescues, including the recovery of a 9-month-old baby and her mother from the rubble by American rescue teams. The U.S. State Department confirmed these rescues and emphasized its commitment to assist Venezuela in the aftermath of the earthquakes.
