DHS Secretary Proposes Plan to Restrict International Flights to Certain Cities

Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin stated that his department is considering plans to prevent international flights from landing in cities designated as 'sanctuary cities.' Mullin made these comments during an appearance on Fox News, where he claimed that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has arrested a significant number of individuals he categorized as gang members and terrorists, although he did not provide evidence for this assertion. He specifically mentioned Newark, New Jersey, citing local law enforcement's lack of cooperation with federal immigration agents at a detention facility. Mullin argued that if local authorities are not allowing federal agents to perform their duties, then international flights should not be permitted to land in those cities. The proposal comes amid ongoing protests at the detention facility, where some inmates are reportedly on a hunger strike. Additionally, Border Czar Tom Homan indicated that inmates may be force-fed if their condition worsens.
