Hannah Berner, a comedian and alum of *Summer House*, reported experiencing limited mouth movement following Dysport injections intended to alleviate jaw pain. In a TikTok video, Berner, 34, demonstrated her inability to smile after receiving the injections for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues. She explained that she underwent the treatment to address teeth clenching and headaches. Berner expressed concern over her condition, stating, "I woke up last week, and I can’t smile," while sharing her experience with her followers.
Dysport, which contains botulinum toxin, is similar to Botox and is used to relax the jaw. Berner noted that she had previously received Botox for medical reasons without complications. However, after this recent treatment, she felt tightness in her mouth and was alarmed by the possibility of adverse effects.
She sought advice from the professional who administered the injections, who reassured her that her smile would eventually return. Despite this, Berner felt anxious about an upcoming on-camera appearance. In an attempt to reverse the effects, she sought additional treatment, but it was unsuccessful. Berner emphasized the importance of her smile in her career and expressed her hope for recovery.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons indicates that the effects of neurotoxin injections typically last more than two months. Berner's co-host, Paige DeSorbo, also shared her negative experiences with Botox, stating she would avoid such procedures in the future.
