Peter Ticktin Calls for Trump to Declare Election Emergency Ahead of Midterms

Peter Ticktin, a Florida attorney and associate of President Donald Trump, has urged Trump to declare an election emergency before the midterm elections. Ticktin claims that foreign interference influenced the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, citing voting machines from Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic. Despite government investigations concluding that there was no evidence of widespread fraud, Ticktin continues to advocate for further investigation into the election. He stated, 'With the evidence that we’ve got, and with the evidence that would be forthcoming, that there’ll be no question about it and what these machines did.' Smartmatic has denied any connection to Dominion and criticized the ongoing election-fraud narratives as false and politically motivated. Ticktin also suggested that Trump could invoke the National Emergencies Act if he believes foreign interference has occurred. Trump has previously denied plans to declare a national emergency related to elections. Instead, he has supported the SAVE America Act, which includes measures such as proof of citizenship to register to vote and a voter ID requirement, although the legislation is currently stalled in the Senate.
