Haitian man shot in head while driving children to church in Springfield

A 51-year-old Haitian man was shot in the head while driving his children to church in Springfield on Sunday, July 5. The incident occurred around 9:33 a.m., as reported by multiple 911 calls. The victim is currently listed in critical condition. One caller identified as the victim's child stated that he was shot while attempting to give someone a ride. Another witness reported hearing gunshots and a racial slur before the shots were fired. Rodney Oglesby, 42, was arrested shortly after the incident and faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and felonious assault. The police recovered a 9mm handgun and shell casings from the scene. Vilès Dorsainvil, president of the Haitian Community Help and Support Center, is seeking to arrange a meeting between the police and the victim's family to discuss the incident.
