He mentioned the need to distinguish between fact and fiction and described the situation as more straightforward than he initially expected. Kirk's supporters, however, expressed dissatisfaction with Trump Jr.'s comments, questioning the details of the shooting and accusing him of not being truthful. Some commenters expressed feelings of betrayal, while others supported conspiracy theories regarding Kirk's death. Conservative podcaster Candace Owens endorsed the critical comments directed at Trump Jr. The Trump Organization has not responded to requests for comment.
