NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman confirmed that the agency has captured images of unidentified objects, which could be classified as UFOs. In a podcast episode on June 30, Isaacman stated that the imagery remains unexplained and that the data does not provide clarity on what the objects are. He expressed confidence that humans may eventually conclude that other lifeforms exist beyond Earth, although he did not claim the images are proof of extraterrestrial life.
NASA has previously stated that it does not have evidence suggesting UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin. A 2023 report by an independent group of scientists and experts convened by NASA indicated that more data is needed to understand certain unexplained encounters. The Pentagon has also released data related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), with efforts to declassify files ongoing. Isaacman mentioned that while NASA has images of unexplained objects, there is no evidence of crashed alien bodies or recovered spacecraft. He noted the possibility of evidence of microbial life on Mars, stating that samples currently on Mars could indicate such findings if returned to Earth.
