Israel shares intelligence with US regarding potential Iranian plot against Trump

Israel has reportedly shared intelligence with the United States indicating that Iran has developed a new plan to assassinate former President Donald Trump, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. This intelligence suggests an escalation in threats against Trump, who has been a target of Iranian retaliation since the U.S. strike that killed General Qassem Soleimani in 2020. The White House referred to Trump's comments made on Wednesday when asked about the report. Trump stated, "They want to take out the US leader — me. I’m on whatever list. I saw this morning I’m on every single one of their lists." He emphasized the need to address threats from Iran, referring to them as "evil, sick people." The report also noted that Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have recently disagreed on the approach to take following recent conflicts with Iran. Netanyahu supports continued military pressure, while Trump is in favor of maintaining a ceasefire. Following their conversation on Thursday, both leaders agreed to continue coordination between the U.S. and Israel. Additionally, Iranian mourners at a funeral for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei reportedly called for Trump's death and displayed a banner stating, "We Will Kill Trump."
