Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican from South Carolina, has urged Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to resign amid concerns regarding his health. McConnell, 84, was hospitalized after being found unconscious at his home on June 14 and has not been seen publicly since. Mace stated in a post on X, "If McConnell is in as bad a shape as Biden ever was — or worse — he needs to step aside. This charade can’t continue."
Emergency personnel reports suggest that McConnell may have experienced a heart attack during the incident. His office has not provided detailed updates on his condition, reiterating a previous statement that he is recovering in the hospital and working with his staff.
Another Republican, Rep. Marlin Stutzman from Indiana, expressed uncertainty about McConnell's status, stating he had not heard from him and called for transparency regarding the senator's health. In contrast, Senate Majority Leader John Thune and others have reported recent communication with McConnell, asserting that he is engaged and eager to return to the Senate.
