Yogesh Sayrange, 36, was arrested for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at two churches and a commercial building in Queens late Wednesday night. According to police, Sayrange targeted Iglesia Bautista El Mesias in Ozone Park shortly before 11 p.m., where surveillance footage reportedly shows him speaking with three men before igniting and throwing a Molotov cocktail toward the church's entrance. The device ignited near the front door, and he subsequently left the scene.
The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) received a call at 11:57 p.m. regarding the incident at the church. Sayrange then allegedly traveled to a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Woodhaven, where he threw another Molotov cocktail at the building's entrance, prompting a second fire report at 12:08 a.m. Thursday.
No injuries or significant damage were reported at either location. Investigators later identified a third incident involving Sayrange, who allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at an ambulance service building on Rockaway Boulevard around the same time. He was taken into custody at approximately 12:10 a.m. Thursday, with two additional Molotov cocktails found in his backpack. Authorities are investigating whether Sayrange is linked to similar incidents from the previous month. He appeared in federal court on Thursday regarding charges related to a separate incident involving an incendiary device in Brooklyn on June 25.
