Former Obama Press Aide Fired for Alleged Theft in Minneapolis

Adam Fetcher, a former deputy press secretary for the Obama administration, was terminated from his position as a communications officer for the city of Minneapolis after being accused of stealing cash and credit cards from city employees. The allegations surfaced following Fetcher's return from a work-approved rehabilitation program. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Fetcher purchasing kratom, an herbal supplement used for opioid withdrawal, with a stolen credit card at a local smoke shop. The store manager identified Fetcher to investigators after staff noticed suspicious purchases. Fetcher, who earned an annual salary of $186,000, was dismissed on July 1. City Operations Officer Margaret Anderson Kelliher stated that several employees had reported missing funds and unauthorized charges prior to Fetcher's termination, assuring staff that the city is taking the matter seriously.
