Harvard Astronomer Appointed to Lead White House UFO Advisory Council

Avi Loeb, a Harvard astronomer, has been appointed by the White House to lead a UFO advisory council. He stated that federal officials are perplexed by the unidentified objects captured by the U.S. military over the years. Loeb's team, consisting of over a dozen scientists, is reviewing four batches of public UFO sighting disclosures released by the Trump administration. His appointment began in early June when an official from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) requested him to form a group to analyze UFOs, now termed unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). Loeb mentioned that he has requested 50 videos and documents related to UAP incidents from the Pentagon and other agencies, but has not yet received them due to national security concerns. He aims to determine whether these UAPs are human-made or originate from other nations, and he emphasized the importance of improving sensor technology for better identification of such phenomena in the future. Loeb also noted that many observed objects could be space debris rather than extraterrestrial in nature.
