The family expressed their gratitude to the staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital for their care during his illness. Neill had previously disclosed a diagnosis of blood cancer in his 2023 memoir, where he discussed his treatment for stage-three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. In recent months, he had shared updates about his health, stating he was cancer-free. A cause of death has not been released.
