Shayma Alzubi, recently appointed as principal of Western Hills High School in Fort Worth, Texas, is facing backlash and an investigation by the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) due to past social media posts that have resurfaced. Alzubi, currently an assistant principal at Southwest High School, had posts defending Sharia law and supporting progressive causes, which have drawn criticism online.
State Board of Education member Julie Pickren has called for an investigation into Alzubi for potential violations of the Texas Code of Ethics for Administrators. In response to the controversy, FWISD stated that Alzubi's appointment may not align with the district's social media policy and that she could be reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation. The district emphasized its commitment to providing a high-quality education free from political bias and stated that it serves a diverse community with various perspectives.
Fort Worth ISD has not commented further on the ongoing investigation. Alzubi and Pickren have not yet responded to requests for comment.
