Don Lemon, 60, has indicated a possible interest in running for president in 2028, suggesting he could perform better than Donald Trump. During an appearance on the podcast 'Can’t Be Censored,' Lemon stated that he often receives encouragement to pursue a political career. He expressed seriousness about the idea, stating, 'I’m being totally serious.' Lemon criticized current political figures and noted that Trump's success demonstrates that extensive government experience is not a prerequisite for the presidency. He believes he would be an effective president, emphasizing the importance of listening to advisers. Earlier this year, he acknowledged considering a presidential run but recognized the challenges, including the need for fundraising and likely running as a Democrat. Lemon's comments follow his recent legal issues regarding charges related to his coverage of an anti-ICE protest. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges. Lemon was previously a CNN anchor for 17 years before his departure in April 2023, which followed controversies regarding his remarks about political figures and allegations of misconduct, which he denied. Since leaving CNN, he has launched 'The Don Lemon Show' and the Lemon Media Network.
