ICE Contractor Arrested After Shooting Protester in Aurora, Colorado

An employee of the GEO Group, a contractor for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), was arrested after allegedly shooting a protester in Aurora, Colorado, on Thursday evening. The Aurora Police Department reported that the woman was shot in the lower body but is expected to survive. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Brandon Booth, was reportedly waiting in his car due to an anti-ICE protest when he confronted two women who had broken off from the demonstration. After a verbal exchange, Booth allegedly fired a shot at the women, hitting one before fleeing the scene. Police apprehended Booth shortly after, finding him in his car with a firearm. He has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, attempted first-degree assault, felony menacing, and unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon. GEO Group confirmed that Booth has been placed on unpaid administrative leave and stated they will cooperate with the investigation. Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain emphasized the department's commitment to transparency in the investigation, stating that violence will not be tolerated. This incident follows a series of violent encounters involving ICE agents, including recent fatal shootings in other states.
