NORAD F-16s Intercept Aircraft Violating Flight Restrictions in New Jersey

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) reported that its F-16 fighter jets intercepted multiple aircraft that breached temporary flight restrictions over New Jersey on Sunday. More than 10 general aviation aircraft entered restricted airspace, with three requiring interception by NORAD. During two of these intercepts, NORAD aircraft deployed flares to attract the pilots' attention, which were stated to be safe and pose no danger to people on the ground. All aircraft were escorted out of the restricted area without incident. NORAD advised pilots to monitor frequencies 121.5 or 243.0 and to check temporary flight restrictions before entering airspace.
