Army Identifies Two Soldiers Killed in Jordan Air Base Attack

The U.S. Army has identified two active-duty soldiers killed during an attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan last week. The soldiers are 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, from Carrollton, Texas. They were the first U.S. service members killed since hostilities resumed amid tensions related to Iran's actions. A third service member's remains are being identified, and another was killed during a controlled detonation in northern Iraq, according to U.S. Central Command. The total number of U.S. service members killed since the conflict began has reached 17, with over 420 wounded. Feehan and Gonzales were in Jordan supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the international campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, while Gonzales was with the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. Feehan is set to receive several posthumous honors, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. The U.S. and Iran have escalated attacks following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement last week.
